Open letter

This post is slightly different than any of the others I have written. Basically, I want to send a message to someone in my life, but the message I have to tell them is one that I think a lot of people would benefit from reading/thinking about, so I decided to publish it as a blog. Feel free to take the message on board yourself, or pass it on to people in your lives that you feel may benefit from it.

To You,

Sorry if this letter becomes a little bit long-winded, but I guess I have a lot to say.
Firstly, you are amazing. Not in a cheesy, “what does Lucy want because she’s said that?” kind of way. I truly mean it. You are an incredible human being. It seems like no matter what life throws at you, you can handle with grace, determination and (more often than not) a smile on your face. I am proud to be a part of your life, and feel very grateful to have such a fabulous role model around.
Having said that, I have a slight problem with you…

Your lack of self-worth, and your lack of confidence bothers me. I hate seeing you doubt yourself and worry about what other people think. I wish I could make you see just how fabulous you are!!! People love you for being you- the funny, intelligent, beautiful human you are. You don’t need to change. The only reason you should change is if YOU want to, not because you feel pressure from others.
The decisions in life that you make are personal to you too. Yes, people will have their opinions on the things you say or do, but at the end of the day, they are THEIR opinions from THEIR perspective. You are you. Embrace that! Live the life that you want to lead, and great things will come to you. It’s never too late to try something new, or push harder at something you are already working on. Go for it, and don’t stop.

One of the most exciting things in life is learning, and in order to learn we need to experience new things and push ourselves. And that includes making mistakes, because we learn from them. We just have to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down, and get back to it. So don’t be afraid of failure; don’t let that fear stop you from starting in the first place. As sad as it sounds, we only get one chance at life, so it is our duty to use and maximise it to its fullest potential.

You always remind me to stay positive, believe in myself, and never give up. Well now I’m telling you to practise what you preach 😉

Love from Me xx
